Chapters One through Three Summary

As the story opens, Max Andrews is being fired after an incident in which he "exposed" his penis during a broadcast on Sellevision. Max objects that he didn't "expose" himself, but that it "peeked" out. Max says that everyone was wearing bathrobes because the show was "Slumber Sunday Sundown." According to Max, Miguel had knocked over Max's latte, spilling it on Max's underwear. With only four minutes before he had to be on the air, Max didn't have time to dry his underwear and went on without any. Howard Toast, executive producer of the show, says that Max should have worn Miguel's underwear. Max says that Miguel is Spanish and that he doesn't wear underwear, and then adds that the thought of wearing Miguel's underwear is disgusting anyway.
