Chapter 9 - Secret Lovers Summary

During their holiday together, Michael and Dawn spend most of the first few days in bed. Dawn does prepare dinner for the two. The morning after Thanksgiving Michael leaves Dawn alone saying he has a meeting with a producer. He brings a tree and decorations later on, but has to leave again. Dawn decorates the tree alone. It is past midnight when Michael finally appears, drunk. Dawn sees lipstick on his chin and red hairs on his jacket. He smells of whiskey and passes out on the couch. The next morning he explains to Dawn that he was celebrating because he has been chosen for a part in a Broadway play. He takes Dawn to a small restaurant that evening to celebrate. He leaves again and returns in the afternoon with his arms full of packages which...
