Summary

Chapter 20

Cecil begins taking his belongings from his home to the pawn shop slowly. He cleans his illegally owned gun, and begins visiting his departed wife, Connie’s, grave. He begins cleaning her grave and talking to her about his plans. While there, Cecil recalls a time when the family was searching for Justin, and Laura had enough vision and foresight to ask him if he had enough room in his plots to bury Justin if they found him dead. Since that time, although she has acted undone, Cecil has felt that she was still a strong woman.

As Cecil returns home, Mayne Buford is waiting at his house to talk to him. First, he tells Cecil that Eric is staking out his house, and his wife and son are scared. Then, he asks Cecil if he’ll make a deal...
