Summary

Chapter 4

Eric and Laura are racing to Corpus to the DA’s office. Eric received a call that they should get there as quickly as possible. The authorities won’t tell them what is going on, but this type of summons has occurred before. Previously, they have been called to Corpus to identify runaways and dead bodies that resemble Justin’s description. As with this invitation, they have never been told what to expect when they arrive, just to get there as soon as possible.

Eric is driving above the speed limit trying to get them to the destination to find out what’s going on. Laura is in shock. Her behavior is not much different than it has been for the past several years, but she is in the truck without a seat-belt acting as if she doesn’t understand...
