Summary and Analysis For Chapters 13-18 Summary

In Chapter 13, Chris is looking pale and thin when he shows up for practice. He says he had a stomach bug. Matt tries to make eye contact to make sure the boy is all right, but he can't get Chris to look at him. Ramp continues verbally harassing Chris. Pete tells him to lay off, and Matt tells Pete he was right on. When Pete asks Matt why he didn't back him, Matt says they need to be a team. Pete walks off.

School starts again, and it's going decently. The family is talking together, and Junie mentions that Sarah likes Matt. His mother is concerned about whether or not he has officially broken up with Mandy. She reminds him that it's important to treat people right.
