Summary

Chapter 1

Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke wakes near a beautiful forest and a stream. He can see Victorian houses in the distance across a field. He is suffering from amnesia, though he can remember six things: The name of the current president, his mother’s face, that he can play the piano and fly a helicopter, that he is thirty-seven years old, and that he needs to get to a hospital. He moves into town, each with a beautiful lawn and beautiful gardens. His head is pounding, making him believe he has experienced a concussion of some kind. He reads the names on the mailboxes, and sees on that stands out to him: Mackenzie. The “mack” means something to him, but he doesn’t kno what. In the center of town, he can see locally-owned diners and coffee shops, but no chain places...
