Chapter 17: Trying a New Game Summary and Analysis

Slim gets out of jail and has no money, so he tries to rob someone quickly to get some fast cash. He meets up with a man named Red Eye and they plan to rob a drug dealer named Mavis. Their scheme is to attack her when she leaves the club and is on the way to her car. They know she will carry a large amount of money and will help Slim re-establish himself in the neighborhood. He does not care about the drug dealer, but instead needs the cash in order to buy clothes and other material possessions to give the impression he is a successful pimp again. He feels he cannot be a good pimp without more money.
