Chapter 21 Summary

Dallas and Roarke keep moving. They blast their way through the locks on 'Experimental Studies' and what they see is disturbing, but there is no life in there now. Roarke is unable to turn of the yellow alert, and they realize that someone other than Deena must have set it. They go back out into the tunnel to find Diana standing with the scalpel in her hand and young Darby in her arms. Dallas asks where Deena is and she tells them, telling Dallas that Darby seems drugged and is unable to run. Roarke offers to take her and then follows Diana to the Gestation area where she last saw Deena. Containers are everywhere, filled with fetuses in varying stages of development.
