Chapters 42-47 Summary

Odd's is wakened by a nurse, who tells him Porter has been moved to ICU. Odd is told that Porter is expected to sleep till morning. Odd turns to leave, but stops at the nurse's desk to ask if anyone recognizes the card he found in Fungus Man's wallet. A nurse tells Odd that the card is a meditation card, but the nurse cannot tell Odd what it says. Odd goes to a local radio station to visit a friend. This friend, a radio DJ, likes to play big band music from the 1930s and 40s and is blind. Odd gives him the card and asks what it says. The friend tells Odd that the card says Father of Lies, a phrase used to refer to Satan. The friend advices Odd to get rid of the card.
