Summary

In Chapter 30, Alex heads to the president’s house with North. Alex texts Dawes saying, “if anything happens to me, it was Sandow” (420). She slips her way into the party that is happening and heads for the restroom. Alex realizes that she looks like a society member, so she removes her cardigan and uncovers her tattoos with her saliva. She looks at her tattoo of the Wheel, remembering the day she pulled the card from Hellie’s tarot deck. Alex knows she is supposed to be a shepherd, but decides it’s “Better to be a rattler” (422).

Alex then finds Sandow, and the two go into a private room. Alex immediately accuses him of killing Tara. She tells him she knows he killed her to create a nexus for St. Elmo’s new tomb, and Sandow only says, “So what?” (423). Sandow reveals that...
