Summary

Chapter 2 takes the reader back to the fall before the events of Chapter 1, and is told from the point of view of Daniel Arlington, who goes by Darlington. Darlington is introduced as someone who is concerned with being a gentleman; he is polite, does not curse, and attends church every Sunday, even though he is not religious. All of this was taught to him by his grandfather. Darlington recalls his first introduction to Alex, whose real first name is Galaxy.
