Bella is a 17-year-old girl who moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington to live with her dad. Although she hates Forks because of the weather and because of its small town dreariness, she decides (in the first book, Twilight) to move there because her mother needs alone time with her new husband. Bella lacks confidence in herself, unable to understand why anyone would want her around.
