In the middle of the night, Jacob is climbing in through Bella's window. When she sees him, she is furious and tells him to get out. He tells her he came to apologize, but she doesn't want to hear anything from him. Still, he tries to explain. He tells her he has a secret, but he cannot tell her what it is. In fact, he physically cannot tell her, like some force is preventing him. What he can tell her, is that he is involved in something that he cannot get out of.
