Bella Swan was born in a place called Forks, Washington. Her parents divorced when she was very young, so she and her mother moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Bella lived most of her life. Although she spent summers and certain holidays in Forks, Bella had always hated it. But last year (at the beginning of book one, Twilight), Bella's mother remarried and moved to Miami. Bella, not wanting to impose upon her mother's new love life, moves in with her father, Charlie, in Forks. Despite her plan to be miserable for the rest of her life in this drizzly, dreary small town, Bella surprised herself by falling in love. . . with a vampire.
