Summary

Chapter 10, titled “Blood of the Gorgon,” begins with Mr. Silverberg stopping the recording of Anka telling her story. Karen notes that every time Anka says something painful from her past on the tape, Mr. Silverberg pours another drink. Karen convinces Mr. Silverberg to press play on the tape again so they can figure out Anka’s murder. The rest of the chapter is again an illustrated account of Anka’s recording. After being raped by Herr Kronan, Anka returned to the brothel to find Sonja. Sonja comforted Anka and put a plan in motion to help her escape. Sonja had slowly been poisoning Anka’s mother, whose hair was slowly falling out. Sonja told Anka to wait for her in the costume closet. When no one came to retrieve her, Anka put on a costume from the closet and searched for Sonja. She...
