Aaron Soto

Aaron is the narrator of the novel. He lives with his mother Elsie and his older brother Eric. Aaron's father is Mark, who commits suicide shortly after Aaron told his parents he is gay. Aaron is crippled by guilt that Mark found Aaron's true nature so repulsive that he killed himself. This prompts Aaron to also attempt suicide. All these events lead to Aaron having the Leteo procedure because he wants to suppress any memories that relate to being gay, including that he believes he drove his father to suicide.

Aaron has several flaws. He tends to be reactionary, meaning he tries to change based on what other people think of him.
