Summary

In “The Future of the World,” Viola narrates that Ben falls down next to Todd and begins packing snow onto his chest. She can hear the Return wondering if shooting Todd was a mistake at all. She turns to him telling him that even if he did not mean to kill Todd, he did anyway. The narration changes to Viola’s voice. She picks up the Return’s weapon and tells him that if he does not tell her how to use it she will beat him to death with it. The Return takes over the narration and indicates how he deeply feels the grief that he has caused. Because of this grief and her pain, he shows her how to use the weapon. The narration returns to Viola as Ben begs her...
