Part II, Chapters 12-18 Summary

Chapter 12: The rescue team has already left by the time Katniss awakes. Katniss learns that Finnick has also been sedated. With nothing to do but wait, Katniss and Finnick shoot footage to be shown on the Capitol feed. Katniss talks about Peeta. Finnick talks about the secrets he learned while being forced to prostitute himself in the Capitol. There are stories of incest and other unspeakable acts. The most shocking is that President Snow has poisoned many, including allies.

Katniss and Finnick are taken to the hospital where they see several people who have been retrieved. The most important for Finnick is his lady love Annie. Katniss is breathless with anticipation to see Peeta. However, when Peeta sees Katniss, he starts to choke her.
