Phoebe writes at the beginning of this chapter that although she was often disobedient and rebellious, her treatment of her mother after the incident in the kitchen was bad even for her. At every opportunity, whenever she was in hearing distance from her mother Phoebe would say Mick's name. Finally, Phoebe's mother asks Phoebe what she is doing. At this Phoebe runs to her room.
