Mick Summary

This book tells the story of the death of Phoebe's twelve-year-old brother, Mick. Mick was killed in a bicycle accident because he was not wearing his helmet. The book also details the way in which Mick's family deals with his death.

The initial chapter begins with a short description of Mick's accident. He hit a rock with his bicycle tire that caused the bike to skid into a truck. Mick's death was the result of a head injury. The narrator writes that the intention of the book is to tell about Mick. She next writes that Mick is not alive anymore.

Phoebe, Mick's older sister, begins Mick's story by telling that their parents were not planning on having another baby ten months after Phoebe was born. Mick loved the idea that he could outsmart his parents. He was also great at imitating voices...
