Dannie

Danielle “Dannie” Kohan is the protagonist and narrator of In Five Years, recounting its events in the first person. At the beginning of the novel, Dannie is a 28 years old corporate lawyer and lives with her boyfriend David in New York City, about to interview for a job at Wachtell, the most prestigious firm in New York City where she has always dreamed of working. Dannie is extremely logical, meticulous, and organized, as exemplified by her five-year plan for the next five years of her life. Her plan is to marry David, move to Grammercy Park with him, and be senior associate at Wachtell.

Dannie experiences exactly one hour five years into the future to find she lives in a loft in Dumbo and sleeps with Aaron, who she has not yet met. Dannie attempts to forget the premonition and continue following her plan, until she meets Aaron...
