Summary

In Chapter 14, Dannie and David go to a summer share in Amagansett for Labor Day with Bella and Aaron as well as friends Morgan and Ariel. Dannie, David, and Morgan drive together, Morgan mentioning that she likes Aaron and is happy for Bella. At the beach house, Bella asks David if he can go pick up Ariel from the train station. David leaves. Aaron makes guacamole in the kitchen, saying he got his love of cooking from his deceased mother. Bella and Aaron are very affectionate and loving with one another. Seeing them, Dannie feels “a prick in [her] chest that [she is] not entirely sure how to identify” (101). She reflects how she has never seen Bella so comfortable with a man before.
