Summary

The first panel on page 30 is an ocean scene presented in blues and black to represent night. The narrative at the top of the panel says that another night passes. Laureline continues to worry and she suspects that Valerian is having problems. Irmgaal, Ortzog, and Blimflim emerge from the challenging terrain. Valerian continues to travel through the cavern. Irmgaal, Ortzog, and Blimflim climb up and over a cliff, and begin to fight against each other. Valerian continues to crawl through the cavern. A man interrupts the fight between the first three to arrive. He is an elderly gentleman who says that they should remember they are facing “things of the mind” as their final challenge (32). All three stop fighting and look at the man in confusion.
