Inner Conflicts

From beginning to end, each character possesses a series of inner conflicts that determines the outcome between the New Republic and the Empire. Starting with the Imperials, Captain Pallaeon who is stationed on board the Chimaera with Grand Admiral Thrawn constantly objects to Thrawn's tactics and ideas. He sees himself as a dedicated servant of the Empire with many years' experience under his belt. It is this dedication that wins over every time, but he still finds himself at odds with the directives that Thrawn gives.

Mara Jade is another example of a conflicted character. For years, she has despised Luke Skywalker whom she feels destroyed her life by his role in the Emperor's death.
