Colton was four years old when the story began. He was born on May 19, 1999. His mother considered him a gift from God, since the child they were pregnant with before him had died. He loved to play with action figures and swords, yet was hesitant to jump in and try things immediately. He needed to build up courage first. This is shown when the family goes to a museum and he has a chance to hold a tarantula. He really wanted the sticker that showed he held the spider, but wasn't willing to actually do the deed at first. He came back later to do it, once he worked up the courage.
