Manhattan

The story first starts in Manhattan, where Sam is initially working. After she gets furloughed, she only returns to the city for a few days during the holidays. This is also where Sam has a brief meeting with Jarrett about the Krull Mining case.

Washington D.C

Sam frequents Washington D.C several times throughout the book when she goes to visit both of her parents who work there. After she’s furloughed, she spends some time with her mother while she’s trying to find a nonprofit group to work with.

Brady, Virginia

Brady is where the majority of the action takes place. Brady is where the Mountain Legal Aid Firm is located, and where Sam relocates after being furloughed. Donovan’s firm is also located in Brady. Sam attends several trials at the court houses, a first for her as a lawyer. When Sam is taking...
