Lord Eddard Stark

Eddard 'Ned' Stark is Lord of Winterfell, Lord Paramount of the North, and Warden of the North. From the age of eight, Eddard, and another young man, Robert, are fostered by Jon Arryn at the Eyrie. Eddard befriends Robert, and comes to consider Lord Arryn a second father. After Eddard's father and brother die by command of King Aerys II, the king demands that Arryn send him the heads of the two wards. Arryn refuses and instead launches a rebellion, in which Eddard and Robert join as lords of their houses and chief commanders. Shortly before the final battles of the rebellion, Eddard marries Catelyn Tully, who had been engaged to Eddard's brother Brandon before his death.
