Tyrion and his father, Tywin, learn Robb has taken Jaime prisoner and most of Jaime's army is either dead or run off. Tywin's men want to surrender, but Tyrion knows that after the execution of Eddard, this is impossible. Cersei wants Tywin to come to King's Landing to protect her and Joffrey, but Tywin decides to head toward the Riverland instead. Tywin does send Tyrion to King's Landing, however, to act as King's Hand and try to straighten out the mess Cersei and Joffrey have gotten everyone into.

Jon has a plan to desert the Night's Watch and join his brother Robb in secrecy. Knowing his life is done if he gets caught, he leaves anyway. Sam is aware, but Jon does not worry he will tell...
