Jon is promoted, along with several of his classmates. However, Sam is not. Jon becomes concerned Sam will be alone without the protection he has come to depend on. Jon goes to the Maester to ask that Sam be promoted and the Maester promises to consider it. At the same time, Tyrion and Bronn travel alone out of the mountains around Eryies. Tyrion tells Bronn about a time when he married a woman who turned out to be a prostitute. When his father learned about the marriage, he ordered the woman violated by his men in order to humiliate Tyrion. This event left Tyrion filled with anger toward his father.
