Bran, in a coma, is dreaming he is falling from a great height. A crow flying next to him keeps telling Bran to fly. Bran is afraid at first to look down, but when he does, he sees many strange images. He sees his father and sisters surrounded by shadows. One has the terrible face of a hound, another is armored in gold and is beautiful. Then Bran looks toward the Wall. Bran looks into the heart of winter and is terrified by what he sees. The crow tells him that is why he must live. Bran finally begins to fly and then the crow starts pecking at Bran's forehead. Bran awakens.
