Summary

In Chapter 15, Hel called Dr. Oliveira from jail and left him a message. Dwayne showed Vikram his grandmother's painting, which was definitely the same one from Sleight's boarding school. He attempted to call Hel, who did not answer, of course. Hel thought back to the moment she passed through the Gate, when she arrived on the other side in Calvary Cemetery, greeted by a crowd of people, including police and military. Dr. Oliveira paid Hel's bail, sending along a message: “pull yourself together” (256). Vikram went to Reintegration Education and spoke to Wes, asking for a ride to Brooklyn, specifically to Ayanna Donaldson's museum. He spoke to Dwayne on the phone, and realized it was the anniversary of his brother's death. He could relate to the grief Dwayne is feeling.
