Chapter 24 Summary

After finding Shana's car and realizing that all four tires are flat, Kinsey continues on to the hot tub called Sanctuary. She removes the hot tub's cover to see if Shana might be floating in it. When the hot tub appears clear, Kinsey moves to a cabinet that houses the heater and pump. When Kinsey opens the door, Shana's body falls out. Before Kinsey can react, Elva comes up behind her with a gun. Elva says someone called to say Bailey was on the property. Elva has already called the police and is intent on making Kinsey wait. Kinsey surprises Elva, however, and manages to get away. Kinsey runs up the fire road and across the street, making her way across the hill until she comes up behind the house on the cliff behind Jean's old apartment.
