The Horns of a Dilemma Summary

Eragon looks at Murtagh in disbelief after his companion's revelation. Eragon is unsure about what to do and is unsure whether Murtagh is working for the king. Murtagh cries out that he did not choose who his father was. Murtagh shows Eragon a scar he received from his father when he was a child. He tells Eragon that he holds no allegiance to the king and fears what the Varden would do if they find out.

Murtagh reiterates that he does not serve the Empire, but Eragon presses him with questions about his loyalty.
