When they land, Eragon tries to feel for the holes made by the arrows. An arrow still protrudes from Saphira's wing, and Eragon removes it while she bites a sapling to avoid roaring in pain. The arrow was lodged in her muscle, and she rears back in pain, knocking Murtagh to the ground.
