Legacy of a Rider Summary

Eragon wakes slowly at the urging of Saphira. Brom is running a high fever and thrashing about with his arms. A moment later, Brom opens his eyes and yells for the wineskin. Eragon takes Murtagh's wineskin, and Brom tells him to wash his right hand with it. Eragon follows his instructions, not knowing why. After washing Brom's hand, the identical scar possessed by Eragon is exposed on Brom's hand. Brom was a Dragon Rider long ago until his dragon was killed by Galbatorix after being betrayed by Morzan. His dragon's name was named Saphira.

Eragon asks Brom why he has not revealed this information before and Brom tells him he did not need to. He warns Eragon to guard his Saphira with his life, "for without her, it's hardly worth living." (Page.....
