An Old Friend Summary

Brom and Eragon make their way to Jeod's neighborhood. Between the houses that possibly belonged to Jeod an herbalist named Angela sits in her shop. She holds a frog in one hand and writes with the other. She banters back and forth with Brom for a moment and then tells him which house belongs to Jeod.

Eragon thinks the herbalist is insane after she tells Brom and him that she is attempting to disprove the existence of toads. They arrive at Jeod's and the man's wife answers the door and tells them that her husband is too busy to see them. After commenting on the woman's rudeness, Eragon is silenced by Brom. Finally, Jeod appears, emerging from the house in rumpled clothing.

Jeod is stunned when he sees Brom because he had thought Brom was dead. Brom has not...
