Thunder Roar and Lightning Crackle Summary

Eragon and Brom leave and travel on the open plains. Saphira tells Eragon that she will fly above them because there is nowhere for her to hide. When the trail forks, they decide to travel to Yazuac, a small village next to a river days away.

Their travel is uncomfortable in the dry wind of the plains. Eragon's eyes and mouth become dry and chapped, and the sun is very bright.

On their third day out, Brom and Eragon reached a storm front. As they look at it, a vast wave rolls toward them. As they prepare for it to land, Eragon remembers that Saphira is airborne. He shouts for her to land, but she is unable to land in time. The storm hits them like a hammer.
