Awakening Summary

It is a small, yet beautifully colored dragon, with blue sapphires covering it. Eragon now realizes that it was not a stone that landed in the forest; it is an egg. The dragon has sharp fangs and claws and spikes running down its back. The dragon watches Eragon closely, and then decides to explore the room in which it was born.

Eragon reaches out to the dragon slowly, and as he touches it, he feels a blast of energy inside his body. He recoils with pain and agony, a scream ripping through his mind. A moment later an oval shape appears on his hand, in the middle of his palm. Eragon thinks about what occurred, and he realizes that something touched his mind, but he does not know what.
