Chapter 7, Plaintext: Part 1, Part 2 Summary

In Part 1, Hester has a memorial service at the church for Claire. She hopes Jericho comes. She knows he is alive because Wigram says so. Jericho enters the church, emaciated and gaunt, held up by Wigram.

Jericho was shot in the back and shoulder. He lost a lot of blood. There is an infection. He is in isolation in the hospital so he does not talk about Enigma. Logie visits and tells him 400 Americans have died. They break Shark because of Jericho.

Puck's father was Polish. Puck escaped to France and became a cryptologist. He made friends with a low level, Portuguese diplomat. Puck discovered his father was killed by the Russians in Smolensk.
