Summary

In Chapter 19, Eleanor’s boss Bob offered her a promotion to become the new office manager. Eleanor told him that she would consider the offer. Eleanor met Raymond for lunch at a café Raymond frequented around the corner. Eleanor discussed her thoughts about the promotion with Raymond. Raymond encouraged her to think about her future career goals, making Eleanor realize that she had not considered ever changing her job. In Chapter 20, Eleanor met Raymond at the golf club for Keith’s party. She spoke with Sammy. Then, Raymond found her in the crowd and put his hand on her shoulder to let him know that he was there. This gesture shocked and flattered Eleanor because she was not used to physical contact. Eleanor danced, then saw Raymond dancing with Laura and became jealous.
