Part I, Big John: Chapters 4 - 6 Summary

Steen's mind is now affected by the sickness, and he knows that he is too weak to make it back to the communications center to radio his captain. He knows a second boarding party means more loss of life. In his frustrated anger, he unholsters the gun he found aboard the Divine Star and shoots the car he feels is responsible for the death of his men. Captain Korvold is watching from the Narvik, and when the explosion occurs, his mind does not have enough time to comprehend it. Anyone on deck of the Narvik is instantly incinerated, and the shock wave that follows turns the cruise ship into a mass of twisted metal and shards of glass and wood. Within five minutes, what remains of the ship sinks. None of the 120 passengers...
