Summary

By Chapter 16, Paul is home in London and very ill. Many prominent doctors have come to see him and Florence never leaves his side. Dombey sits up with Paul often but Paul is so ill he does not know who he is. Dombey is distraught.

One day Paul asks if he ever saw his mother before she died. Florence says not but he did have a nurse so Paul asks to see her. When Polly arrives, she cries at the sight of Paul whom she loved dearly. Outside, Paul hears Walter as he is leaving and asks for him too. Paul knows he is dying so he says goodbye to his friends and family and asks his father to take care of Walter. Then he dies.

In Chapter 17, Walter arrives back home, distraught over the death of Paul. Captain Cuttle finally tells Uncle...
