Chapter 15-17 Summary

In chapter 15, Richard is sitting in the Denny's, waiting and watching for the robbery to begin. It is Richard's job to signal to Lamar that the place is free of police presence or not. Richard gives the signal that all is clear, but a state trooper comes out of the bathroom just as Lamar, Odell, and Ruta Beth walk in. Lamar kills the trooper before taking the restaurant manager into the office to empty the safe. Lamar also kills the manager. Before Lamar and his gang can leave the restaurant, the police arrive. Lamar hesitates, giving a woman eating at the restaurant the chance to pull her gun. Ruta Beth shoots the woman. Lamar orders Ruta Beth to take Odell and Richard out and meet him at the rendezvous point. Lamar makes his way toward the back of the restaurant as...
