Tao Chi'en Summary

Tao Chi'en sailed to Hong Kong to start a new life as a zhong yi. He would be eternally grateful that his karma had worked out in this way and thought about what he needed to do to establish himself. First off, he needed to marry, because a physician who didn't have a wife was considered to be poor. As the sampan slowly glided, he dreamed of the woman he sought and how they would have many male children.

Tao Chi'en's love would have to have delicate bound feet and wear tiny embroidered slippers. That was a sign of overwhelming beauty in his eyes.
