True Love

As this novel begins, Tessa is preparing for her wedding with Jem. Tessa and Jem became engaged in the previous novel despite the fact that Tessa was in love with Will, Jem’s parabatai. Will pushed Tessa away because he believed he was cursed. If she loved him, she would die. For this reason, Tessa had opened her heart to Jem and now loves them both.

When Jem becomes ill, Tessa stands by him, agreeing to marry him sooner than originally planned. Tessa is fully committed to her relationship with Jem even as she continues to nurse a broken heart for Will.
