Summary

Chapter 70 – It has been some time since Nicodemus has spoken to his sister, Ebeneza (Ebb). He recalls how powerful the both of them were. He secretly meets with Ebb to talk from time to time, even though it is against the rules. When Ebb fails to show at their appointed time, Nicodemus learns that Ebb has been arrested.

Chapter 71 – When Simon wakes up, he is alone. He makes his way to the woods by Baz’s house where he is suddenly confronted by the Humdrum himself. The Humdrum points out Baz, who looks sickened and is very hungry. Baz turns on Simon with the intent of feeding on him. Simon forces magic into Baz, which heals him. Humdrum disappears.
