Summary

Chapter 42 – Baz tells Simon he intends to take Simon up on his offer to track down his mother’s killers. Simon and Baz declare a truce so they can work together. They meet up later to begin going over clues, with Baz writing things on a chalkboard. The first thing Baz writes is the date 12 August 2002, a point time when he was only five.

Chapter 43 – Baz only remembers some of what happened on the day when vampires broke down the room where the children of faculty were being protected. Baz remembers his mother wielding fire to fight off the vampires, and he remembers the look of horror on his mother’s face when a vampire bit him and he passed out. Then he woke up to find his mother gone.
