The Importance of Defining and Accepting Yourself

From the beginning of the book, the reader gets the sense that Victoria is confident, unique, strong, and independent. However, while her willingness to modify her physical appearance to match that of her favorite sci-fi character may seem to indicate that she feels completely comfortable with herself, it becomes clear as the book progresses that Victoria is hiding behind this appearance.
