The Safeway workers successfully put the store in order and stock the shelves. Then, Tommy goes to Chinatown with Troy Lee, where he finds out that his Chinese roommates, believing that in San Francisco men can marry each other, are courting him to try to marry Tommy for citizenship. Now, Tommy must endure Troy's ribbing about his suitors.

Jody wakes up at sunset, with a half hour to get ready for her date. Dissatisfied, she heads to a gap for new clothes. Meanwhile, Tommy has been avoiding his roommates. He gives a quarter to a panhandler who wants eyeliner, unable to stop himself from giving money whenever he's asked.
