Jody suddenly regains consciousness when the sun sets. She hates waking alone; she's lived with ten men in five years. Jody realizes that she doesn't need to pee anymore. She tries drinking water and throws it up. She dresses and walks to her old apartment building. From the street, she can hear Kurt talking on the phone. Her concern for his safety is quelled, but she is annoyed by his complaining monologue about her. Jody goes back to the motel and pays for two more days. She cannot cry. She has no friend to talk to.
